Ilha do Mel

The Ilha do mel Island is located in the state of Paraná, belongs to the municipality of Paranaguá. The local bring tourists from various tastes. A curiosity is that propelled vehicle and animal-drawn vehicle is not allowed on the island and the number of visitors is restricted and can not exceed 5,000 people per day. The island has 5 villages: Fortaleza, Nova Brasilia, Farol das Conchas, Praia grande and Encantadas

Farol das Conhas

The Farol das conchas is a highlight of the island and is located on the morro das conchas and is intended to guide the navigation in the Baia of Paranaguá. From the top of the lighthouse has a beautiful panoramic view of the whole island.

Praia de Fortaleza

The Praia de Fortaleza own one of the most important military monuments in the state of Paraná, it was built in order to protect the Baia and its port of Paranaguá. The fort is located on the seafront and is well maintained, as well as their cannons, access is by hiking the hill Whale. South of the island is one of the most important heritage sites, the Gruta das Encantadas. To get there  is a walkway leading to the entrance

In the village of Nova Brasilia, the Isthmus is a narrow strip on the island of Mel also much visited. At high tide this stretch of land can be covered up.

For lovers of surfing the best beach is Praia Grande, it’s almost deserted, open to the sea and good waves. For those looking excitement, the Praia da Encantada is the best option. There are several kiosks, restaurants and inns.

The Praia fora das encantadas also has a few bars and kiosks, but is a bit deserted, very good for those looking to escape from Praia de Encantada and want some infrastructure with restaurants and kiosks. There are also other beaches, each one has its own characteristics that make them charming.

Day 22/02 – Saturday

07h30 – Departure from Curitiba to Pontal do Sul (02h30 around)

10h00 – When we arrive in Pontal let’s go straight to the pier to do a registration for the boat crossing.

10h30 – Arrival to praia de  Nova Brasília. Walk to the hostel and check in.

12h00 – Lunch in Nova Brasília

13h00 – Trail to know the Farol das Conchas. There are 150 steps to the base of the lighthouse built by King Pedro II to guide ships at the entrance of Paranaguá Bay. Until today the lighthouse faithfully fulfills this goal. The view from there is amazing.

20h00 – Toca do Abutre – Bar and restaurant.

Day 23/02 – Sunday

08h00 – Breakfast at Hostel

09h00 – Trail to praia de Fortaleza de Nossa, bult in 1766  (4 km, 1h30). Returning on the sand, over 4km, a stop for a swim in the ocean in Praia da Fortaleza and coconut water to replenish your energies.

12h00 –  Free time to enjoy the beach.

16h00 – Embarque para Pontal do Sul

17h05 – Return to  Curitiba
